Technology for architecture, engineering, and construction firms.

From the workstation to the jobsite trailer.

Managed IT, cybersecurity, and workplace technology for A/E/C firms in Tampa Bay. Built around how your firm actually works: heavy workstations, project files in motion, users in the field, and a security posture that holds up to your insurer’s next renewal.

Engineering workstation support · Field office and trailer setup · In-house team · Tampa-based since 2017

The five things A/E/C IT has to get right.

A/E/C firms don't have time for an IT partner that's still learning the domain. Here's what we mean by that, and how we handle each one.

01

Engineers waiting on workstations cost you billable hours.

Revit chokes on a federated model. AutoCAD takes 40 seconds to open a sheet. The Bluebeam markup session lags every time someone joins. The cost shows up on the next utilization report, not as "IT is slow" but as "why isn't the team hitting their hours?" Workstation performance is a productivity issue, not a hardware issue.

How we handle it
We size, configure, and support engineering workstations for the work they actually do. RAM, GPU, storage, and network paths matched to the application load. We refresh on a schedule that keeps the team ahead of the model size, not behind it. We're familiar with how design and modeling applications behave under load — we support the user access, integration, and infrastructure layers, and partner with your application vendors on the application layer itself.

02

Project files have to move, and stay protected.

Drawings on a partner's laptop. Specs on a project manager's tablet. Contractor pricing in a shared folder. Client confidential information in email. The data moves constantly — across offices, between firms, into the field — and any one weak link is a leak waiting to happen.

How we handle it
Document and project file management configured around how the firm actually collaborates. Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or your project file platform of choice — we integrate with what you already use. Encrypted endpoints, conditional access policies, mobile device management, and clear audit trails. We're familiar with the workflows in Procore, Sage, and similar project collaboration and accounting platforms — we manage the access and integration side, your platform vendor handles the application itself.

03

Your team is rarely at a desk.

Architects on jobsite walks. PMs at OAC meetings. Field engineers in trailers. Inspectors in their trucks. Partners flying between office and project. The firm's office is wherever the work is — and the IT has to follow without dropping connections, exposing data, or slowing anyone down.

How we handle it
Mobile-first architecture: secure remote access baked in, not bolted on. Endpoint and mobile device management on every laptop, tablet, and phone. Conditional access policies that treat a partner logging in from an active jobsite differently than an unknown device from an unknown IP. Cellular fallback and hotspot strategies for sites without infrastructure.

04

Field offices and trailers need real connectivity, fast.

A new project breaks ground. The trailer goes in. The team needs Wi-Fi, scanners, printers, and secure access to the project files — by Monday. "Real" infrastructure isn't on the schedule, and a residential router taped to a desk isn't going to work for ten people on a 9-month build.

How we handle it
We've stood up jobsite trailers, satellite construction offices, and temporary project locations with the same standards as a permanent office: business-grade connectivity (cellular, fixed wireless, or wired where available), secure VPN back to HQ, mobile-first device access, printer and scanner support. We pull our own Florida low-voltage permits when the build justifies it. When the project ends, we tear it down cleanly and recover the equipment for the next site.

05

Cyber insurance is asking harder questions every renewal.

Drawings that competitors would pay for. Contractor financials. Client confidential project details. Most A/E/C firms don't realize the value of what they hold until a breach forces the conversation. And the conversation has changed: your insurer's renewal questionnaire now asks about MFA on every account, EDR on every endpoint, segmented backups, and incident response readiness. The standards moved. Most firms haven't.

How we handle it
Security-first configuration: multi-factor authentication, endpoint detection and response on every device, dark-web monitoring, phishing training and simulation, segmented backups, and around-the-clock managed detection and response. We help you map your environment to what your cyber insurer is actually asking for, and we document the controls so the next renewal questionnaire takes hours instead of weeks. We've supported A/E/C firms through breach recovery and through the operational work of bringing controls up to current standards.

What we handle for A/E/C firms.

  • Managed IT Services — 24/7 helpdesk, infrastructure, and strategic guidance for firms with no IT team or a small internal team stretched thin.
  • Engineering workstation support — Sizing, configuration, deployment, and ongoing support for CAD/BIM workstations. Refresh planning, performance tuning, and lifecycle management.
  • Cybersecurity — Endpoint detection and response, MDR/SOC, MFA, email security, phishing training, dark-web monitoring, and segmented backups. Built around what cyber insurance now requires.
  • Mobile and field user enablement — Secure access for partners, PMs, field engineers, and inspectors who are rarely at a desk. Endpoint and mobile device management, conditional access, cellular fallback strategies.
  • Project file and document management — Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or your project file platform — configured for confidentiality, audit trails, and the way A/E/C teams actually collaborate.
  • Field offices and jobsite connectivity — Trailers, satellite project offices, and temporary locations stood up with business-grade connectivity, secure VPN, and the same support standards as a permanent office.
  • Workplace technology and conference rooms — AV, cabling, conference rooms, and digital signage for firm offices. Self-performed in Florida by our in-house licensed field team.
  • vCIO and risk strategy — Quarterly Technology Strategy Checkpoints covering roadmap, budget, security posture, and insurance readiness.

A focused practice, not a long client list.

A/E/C is a deliberate, growing focus for Newgentek. Our anchor relationship in the space is Ellison Development — five years, multi-office, full managed IT and workplace technology. The firms we work with value depth of relationship over a vendor with the longest logo wall, and we'd rather be honest about where we are than fake breadth we haven't earned yet.

"They take the time to understand our unique challenges in the construction industry and provide tailored solutions that not only resolve our issues but also enhance our overall IT infrastructure."
— Ashley H., Chief Financial Officer, Ellison Development

The cyber insurance landscape is shifting fast.

We're currently onboarding a Tampa construction firm after a security event disrupted their operations. We're not the first firm in the space we've helped through this kind of work. The pattern repeats: cyber insurance renewal questionnaires now require multi-factor authentication, endpoint detection and response, segmented backups, and incident response readiness — controls that didn't exist on the questionnaire two years ago.

Many A/E/C firms find out their controls don't match what their insurer now requires only when something forces the conversation. We help firms get current before that happens, document the controls so renewal goes smoothly, and bring them through breach recovery when something does go wrong.

How engagements work.

Ongoing managed services
Flat-rate monthly per user and per device, scaled to firm size. Includes 24/7 helpdesk, cybersecurity baseline, infrastructure management, and quarterly vCIO engagement. Workstation refresh and lifecycle planning included as part of the relationship.

Project work
New office buildouts, jobsite and trailer setups, conference room installations, security assessments, Microsoft 365 migrations, all priced against a detailed scope with every line item visible. No surprise change orders unless scope actually changes.

Co-managed IT
If your firm has internal IT leadership, we support them with 24/7 coverage, specialized security tooling, and the senior engineering depth that's hard to maintain in-house at firm scale. Scope is defined up front.

Let's talk about your firm's technology.

15 minutes. No pitch. Just a conversation about what's working, what isn't, and whether Newgentek is the right partner for your practice.
