Why Newgentek

Any IT company can list services. Here's why we're different.

How we're built, how we operate, and the people who answer the phone. The case for Newgentek beyond the services list.

Customer obsession is easy to claim. We've made it the test.

It's the easiest value to claim and the hardest to live. At Newgentek, it's the test we run every decision through: is this what the customer would want, or what's easier for us? It's the through-line behind everything we do: how we structure the team, how we price, who we hire, when we drive over instead of opening a ticket.

The next three sections are the concrete ways that obsession shows up.

01

We show up.

In person. By name. On time. Not a ticket number.

The default in modern IT services is distance. Tickets get routed to whoever's available. The technician you talked to last week isn't the one who picks up today. Your account manager is on a call list of forty other accounts.

We've built this differently from the start. Our team is small enough that you'll know your customer success lead, your dedicated engineer, and the people on your account by name within the first 30 days. Quarterly Technology Strategy Checkpoints are onsite when geography allows, not Zoom by default. When something's wrong and a phone call isn't enough, we drive over. That's not a feature; it's a posture.

Some of our client relationships predate the company itself. The longest one stretches back more than twenty years across Chon's technology businesses. People don't stay that long because of pricing.

02

Fast, no jargon.

3.5-minute average time to a live technician. Zero geek-speak.

Two things slow IT support down: queue routing and translation. Queue routing means your ticket sits in a stack waiting for the right tier of person. Translation means even when you reach a tech, half the conversation is decoding what they're saying.

We bypass both. Our 3.5-minute average response is to a live technician. Not an auto-router, not a chatbot, not a pre-recorded “your call is important to us.” And our team is trained to explain technical decisions in language that helps you make a business call, not feel patronized or buried in jargon.

24/7 monitoring closes the rest of the gap. Most issues we resolve, you never see. The alert fires, the tech responds, the problem is gone before anyone's morning is interrupted.

03

One team. IT, AV, and cabling.

In-house, licensed, and one number to call.

Most workplace technology projects need three vendors: a cabling contractor, an AV integrator, and an IT team. When something breaks, you're holding three phone numbers and three people pointing at each other. The cabling is "not our scope." The AV install "depends on the network." The network "needs the cabling certified."

Newgentek does all three under one roof. We hold the Florida Limited Energy Systems Specialty License (#ES12001614), meaning we pull our own permits and self-perform the low-voltage and structured cabling work with our in-house field team. The same team that designs your conference room installs it, programs it, certifies the cabling, and supports it on day one and every day after. For multi-site work outside Florida, we coordinate through our national partner network: same scope, same standards, same accountability.

When you're a managed services client too, all of it folds into a single agreement and a single phone number. No coordination tax, no scope-edge finger-pointing, no separate invoices to reconcile.

Founder-owned. Founder-led.

Newgentek has had the same owner since 2017. Chon Nguyen founded the company, runs the company, and answers the phone. No outside investors. No PE timeline. No earn-out clause shaping the next 18 months of decisions.

That continuity is increasingly rare in this market. Most Tampa and Florida MSPs in our size range have been acquired by private equity in the past five years, which typically means new pricing, new faces, and new committees deciding what service level you get. We don't operate that way and aren't planning to.

The relationship is the product. That requires the people who built it to still be running it.

Four values. Four tests.

We've had the same four core values since we wrote them down. They're not poster material. They're tests. If we can't answer yes to all four on a given decision, we go back.

Customer Obsessed

Their success is our purpose.

In practice

We anticipate needs instead of waiting for tickets. We lead with "help first." We measure ourselves on your outcomes, not our activity. When something's wrong, we drive over.

Integrity Always

Do what's right, every time.

In practice

We tell you bad news promptly. We don't pad invoices. We recommend what's right for your business even when it's less lucrative for ours. If we don't know something, we say so.

Own It

See it through, no excuses.

In practice

When something lands on a Newgentek person's plate, it stays there until it's resolved. No "that's not really my team." No passing the ticket.

Win Together

We succeed as one team.

In practice

Inside Newgentek and with our clients. Every project has multiple disciplines: helpdesk, engineers, field techs, account management. We coordinate internally so you don't have to.

When we're not the right fit.

Most IT companies will tell you they can do anything. We won't. Newgentek is deliberately specific about who we serve well, and we'd rather tell you upfront than disappoint you six months in.

If you're under 10 employees,

our fully-managed model is more infrastructure than you need. A part-time contractor or a smaller boutique provider will serve you better at this stage. We're happy to point you toward someone we trust.

If you're shopping primarily on price,

we're not the cheapest MSP in Tampa and we won't try to be. We're priced for the work we actually do: in-house teams, real engineers, fast response, and real accountability. If lowest cost is the deciding factor, we're not your match.

If you want a vendor, not a partner,

our model assumes regular communication, quarterly reviews, and a real working relationship with your leadership. If you'd rather just submit tickets and not think about IT otherwise, we're probably not the fit, and that's a fair preference, not a wrong one.

We've turned down work, walked away from prospects, and referred deals to competitors when we weren't the right answer. That's not a sales tactic. It's how we've built relationships that last 10+ years.

Who runs this company.

Newgentek is a team of 20+ people, all based in Tampa. The four people running the company day-to-day are the people you'll talk to every week, starting with the founder who's been at it since 2017.

Founder & CEO

Chon Nguyen A Tampa Bay native, Chon has been building technology businesses here since high school. He earned his Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer certification at 16, started his first IT business as a teenager, and has been a founder ever since. He co-founded 212 Digital in 2011 (its FusionPrep platform now runs in 3,000+ restaurants nationwide) and is a partner in Proper House Group, which operates Tampa's Michelin Bib Gourmand–winning Rooster & the Till and several of the city's most loved restaurants. He founded Newgentek in 2017.

Born and raised in Tampa Bay, Chon lives here with his wife Megan and their two kids. He serves on the boards of the Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA, the Hillsborough Education Foundation, and the CEO Council. Work that's part of how he stays invested in the community he grew up in.

Chief of Staff

Jason Riverol Aligns the leadership team, drives execution, owns the P&L, makes the day-to-day rhythm work.

Vice President of Customer Success

Tim Hall Owns the client relationship after the sale — tiering, QBRs, renewals, escalation of record.

Controller

Steve Krebs Owns the numbers — financial reporting, forecasting, and the operational discipline that keeps a services business healthy.

90-Day Satisfaction Guarantee

Try us for 90 days. If we don't earn it, we'll refund it.

Changing IT providers shouldn't feel like a gamble. That's why we offer a 90-day satisfaction guarantee on every new customer engagement.

If you're not satisfied for any reason in your first 90 days, we refund every managed services fee you've paid. No contracts to break. No questions asked.

What this actually means

  • If a specific issue isn't resolved to your satisfaction, we escalate internally until it is — at no additional cost to you.

  • If within 90 days you don't feel Newgentek is delivering what we promised during the sales process, we'll refund all fees paid. No questions. No hoops to jump through.

  • If you decide to leave, we transition your environment cleanly. You keep your data, your documentation, your vendor relationships. We don't hold anything hostage.

We can make this promise because our business is built on relationships that last. Some of our clients have been with us for more than a decade, and one relationship, across Chon's technology ventures, has spanned over twenty years.

Two ways to engage us.

Whether you're hiring us for ongoing managed services or for a project buildout, the engagement follows a defined path with clear deliverables at each stage.
